The Present Condition of Northern India
The country of India has many regions that are worthy of the attention of a charitable organization looking to provide hearing care to those in need. But this region within India, with its amazing diversity of languages, cultures, religions, and politics, should have its access to communication resources prioritized as almost a symbolic gesture to the community as a whole, as they struggle to communicate between themselves, respectfully maintaining peaceful balances of power.
Helping Those in Need
Audiological services are very limited in the The Northern States of India. Similarly, access to Ear Specialists (ENT) and medical services, in general, are also limited due to staffing and financial constraints. Over the last several decades, the local economy has suffered greatly.
Hearing Treatment for All
The detrimental psychological side effects of hearing loss are generally unknown by the Indian public or even the trained medical community. Treatment for moderate to severe categories of hearing loss has therefore received a very low priority in India.
Making a Difference
Contaminated groundwater and drinking supplies, chronic middle ear infections also affect a large portion of the population and cause longstanding hearing loss. These forces combined with limited access to medical services and financial constraints has left the Northeast with a large population of hearing-impaired individuals from all age groups and socioeconomic levels living without any access to treatment.
